to-do list

A helpful to-do list for your wedding planning

24–12 MONTHS BEFORE

Choose your wedding date
The most popular times to get married at Strandhotel Klitrosen are July, August, and September. Consider a beautiful autumn wedding in October, a cozy winter wedding, or a fresh spring celebration as nature begins to bloom in vibrant colors.

Create a wedding budget
We recommend setting a realistic wedding budget. Research the costs of items like flowers, cake, etc., and build your budget accordingly.

Where do you want to invest and not compromise?

Order your wedding invitations
Remember to include the RSVP date – no later than one month before.
Consider attaching a timeline for the day. Also, include a phone number and/or email address for your toastmaster so guests can contact them regarding speeches or performances.

Reserve the church
Don’t forget to complete a marriage declaration before reserving the church.

Arrange transportation to and from the ceremony
Consider whether transportation should be arranged for all or some guests to and from the church.

Book your reception and party venue
We recommend booking your venue at Strandhotel Klitrosen 18–24 months in advance to secure your preferred date.

Choose your wedding menu
Talk to us about your wishes for the menu. Should it be a 3- or 5-course meal served at the table, or would you prefer family-style social dining? We’re happy to advise you with years of experience.

Arrange overnight stay for the wedding night
If you’re not already familiar with us, we suggest booking a trial stay with dinner in our restaurant to see if we meet your expectations.

If you book your wedding with us, the bride and groom will stay for free on the wedding night, and your guests can book rooms at favorable prices.

Find the wedding dress
Start looking early to allow time for alterations if needed.
Book an appointment for dress fittings to ensure a fitting room is available. We recommend https://skott-rold.dk/brudekjoler/

Find accessories such as jewelry, hair decorations, garters, etc.
Always bring your accessories to dress fittings.

Book the photographer
Agree in advance on how many photos should be professionally edited. Also, plan locations and duration for photoshoots and possible video recording: at the church, specific locations, reception, and during the party.

Arrange music and entertainment
Ask your chosen performer if you can hear/see them live beforehand to ensure everything is to your liking.

Order the wedding cake
We do not supply wedding cakes, but we recommend tasting different options to find something you both enjoy.
Want to be unconventional? Try cupcakes, donuts, or something else entirely.

Book your honeymoon
If traveling abroad, remember to update your passport with any name change, and check for any required vaccinations or visas.

5 MONTHS BEFORE

Start your gift registry
Use platforms like Ønskeskyen so guests can easily see and plan their gifts.

Book a hairdresser
Schedule a trial to ensure you’ve chosen the right stylist. They can also help recommend a suitable hairstyle for your face, dress, and expected weather.

Book a beauty salon
Same as with the hairdresser – trial styling is recommended. Take photos from different angles and in natural light for reference.

4 MONTHS BEFORE

Choose your best man or maid of honor
Surprise them with a small gift.

Choose a toastmaster
If not already selected (and included in the invitations), now is the time.
The toastmaster coordinates everything on the day, including communication with the photographer, performers, and venue. Discuss your expectations and create a plan together.

Choose a gift coordinator
Pick someone to keep track of who gave which gift – it’ll make thank-you notes easier.

Choose 2 witnesses
If you’re not getting married in a church, you’ll need two witnesses for a civil ceremony.

Optional: Choose bridesmaids and groomsmen
If children are attending, consider arranging a babysitter and a designated kids’ area. Decide whether they’ll stay the whole evening or be picked up.

3 MONTHS BEFORE

Check RSVPs and start planning the seating chart
We need the final seating chart at Strandhotel Klitrosen at least one week before the event. Start once you receive most RSVPs.

Order place cards, menus, table numbers, seating plans, etc.
Ordering everything from the same vendor ensures a cohesive style.

Buy your wedding rings
Discuss with the jeweler if you want your names and wedding date engraved.

Order the bridal bouquet
Coordinate boutonnières and table arrangements to match.
We recommend flower delivery on the morning of the wedding for freshness.
We offer vases you can borrow and are happy to coordinate with the florist.

2 MONTHS BEFORE

Buy the groom’s attire
Make a fun day of it with friends or family.

Optional: Buy bridesmaids’ and groomsmen’s attire
Make it a social event.

Practice your wedding dance
Book a dance instructor if needed. Even if not, practicing helps you feel confident.

Write your wedding vows
Make them personal and heartfelt, but not too long.

Prepare a speech for your partner
Include funny or emotional moments that mean something to you both.

Complete your marriage declaration
It can be filled out online.

1 MONTH BEFORE

Pick up your wedding rings
Try them on at the jeweler. Fingers can swell in warm weather – consider this for the big day.

Submit final guest count to the venue
Do this in writing. If you’ve drawn a plan, send us a picture by email.

Plan for the gift table
Coordinate with us about its placement and whether you’ll open gifts during breakfast the next morning. We store them safely overnight.

Prepare the morning gift
This is meant to be long-lasting and personal. Popular gifts include jewelry, a book, a named star, or a recorded song.

Check you’ve received your marriage license
Print and bring it on the wedding day just in case.

Meet with the priest
Review the ceremony, choose hymns, and clarify rules about decorations, photography, and external music.

Check clothing
Ensure all outfits are ready and scheduled for pickup/delivery.

Update the toastmaster
Provide them with the final timeline and guest list.

Self-care
Get good sleep, exercise, and consider facials, hair treatments, manicures, pedicures, etc.

½ MONTH BEFORE

Break in your bridal shoes
Wear them at home as much as possible.

Prepare comfortable clothes for the morning after
You’ll be tired. Relax and enjoy breakfast with overnight guests.

Finalize the evening timeline with the toastmaster
Go through it together one last time.

Practice your first dance again
Rehearse until it feels natural—even with your eyes closed.

Check honeymoon plans
Passports, visas, vaccines, currency, etc.

1 DAY BEFORE

Pack your bags
Pack a separate bag for the wedding night with essentials like makeup, safety pins, band-aids, and your change of clothes.

Make sure a guest takes the bag home so you can leave easily for your honeymoon.

No worries
Review the next day’s plan, say your goodbyes… and go to bed early – separately.

WEDDING DAY

Make it an easy day
Let family and friends take care of:

  • Overnight bag

  • Picking up flowers

  • Toastmaster duties (practical info, speeches)

  • Gift coordinator (who gave what)

  • Safely storing and transporting gifts

  • Refrigerating leftover wedding cake

AFTER THE WEDDING

When you’ve recovered (but no later than 3 months after):

  • Send personal thank-you cards – include a small note for each guest.

  • If you changed your name, notify your bank, workplace, passport office, etc.

  • Enjoy your new beginning as a married couple.
